About this tool
Calculate the final sale price and total savings from a discount percentage — for shopping, budgeting, and retail.
Formula
Sale price = original × (1 - discount%). Savings = original × discount%.
Reference values
- 20% off $50 = $10 savings, $40 final
- 50% off = half price
- 30% off $100 = $70 final price
Questions people ask
How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the price by the discount percentage divided by 100. Subtract that from the original price.
Can I stack two discounts?
Apply them one after another, not by adding them. 20% off then 10% off is 28% off, not 30%.
How do I work out the percentage saved?
Divide the amount saved by the original price and multiply by 100.
